Account Deletion Policy

You can permanently delete your Herae account at any time, directly from the app. This page explains exactly how, and precisely what happens to your data when you do.

1. How to delete your account

1. Open your profile from the Herae Moments website.
2. Choose Delete account.
3. Read the warning and, to confirm, enter your password (or, for Google-based accounts, type your username to confirm).
4. Confirm. You'll be signed out immediately and returned to the home page.

2. What is permanently deleted

• Your account record — username, email, password hash, and profile.
• Your profile picture — both the database reference and the stored image file.
• Your Moments — every photo collage and video clip you were part of, including the stored image and video files, and the likes and comments attached to them. Because a Moment is a shared memory that contains the people in it, deleting your account removes those Moments entirely.
• Your reviews, ratings, comments, and likes — everything you authored, wherever it appears.
• Your contacts — all contact relationships and pending requests involving you are removed, so you no longer appear in anyone's contact list.
• Your session participation records and any watch-session details left with nothing attached to them.
• Your pending email tokens (verification and password-reset links) are invalidated.

3. What is anonymized rather than deleted

To keep aggregate product metrics accurate without retaining anything that identifies you, our internal first-party analytics events are anonymized — the record that an event happened may remain, but it is unlinked from your username so it can no longer be traced back to you. No content or personal identifier survives this step.

4. Effect on other people

Moments are shared between the people who were in them. Deleting your account deletes those shared Moments for everyone, because they contain you. If there is a memory you'd like the other person to keep, ask them to save or download it (using the Share → Download option) before you delete your account.

5. Backups & legal holds

Live data is removed immediately. Residual copies may persist briefly in encrypted infrastructure backups and are overwritten on our normal backup rotation. We may retain limited information where we're legally required to, or to resolve disputes and enforce our agreements; anything retained for these reasons is kept only as long as necessary.

6. Prefer help from a person?

If you can't access your account or want us to handle deletion for you, email privacy@herae.app from the email on your account and we'll take care of it.
